This is the second Halloween look that I’m going to do this season. It’s a costume that is inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead. Traditionally it’s a day of remembrance for family and friends who have passed on. Just as a disclaimer, I want to say that this is not done in disrespect of this tradition or culture.
I wore makeup similar to this last year for Halloween so I know I won’t be recreating it on Halloween this year, but I did want to do a blog post on it in case anyone was still looking for some last minute costume inspiration!
The makeup can be modified to be as simple or as intricate as you want it to be. I went for a very simple design, and you can wear it with any outfit that’s dark, lacey, or has a Gothic feel to it.
- White cream makeup for the face.
- Black eyeshadow for the hollows of the eyes and cheeks.
- Black, red, and green cream makeup or eye liners for the decorations.
Here’s a tip: don’t use the white cream makeup on the hollows of your eyes where the black cream makeup and black shadow will go. There was too much white makeup underneath the black paint, and mine came out looking more gray than black.
That’s all for this post! I like this look because it’s spooky but not gory, I know a lot of people aren’t big on bloody costumes. It’s also super easy to put together without being cheesy and overdone like the standard cat costume lol.
