Fudge Chocolate “Nice” Cream Recipe

DSC_0122I’m super excited to share today’s post! In the summer I am a froyo/ice cream fiend! There’s nothing better than a cold treat on a hot day. In all seriousness I would eat ice cream, which would not be great for my health. So instead I set off to do research on healthier alternatives.

While I was browsing through Pinterest I came across something called nice cream, ice cream without dairy and refined sugar and I decided to give it a go! It came out really well and I’ll definitely be trying more variations of this recipe in the future!

Here’s the recipe:

3 frozen bananas

3 pitted dates

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1. Make sure your bananas are ripeDSC_0088

2. Chop them up and freeze them for 5 hours or overnightDSC_0092

3. Use a food processor or powerful blender to blend the bananas until smoothDSC_0096

4. Add your dates and cocoa powderDSC_0109

5. Put it in a freezer safe container and let it set for 4-6 hours or overnightDSC_0113

6. There you have it! A delicious chocolately treat without the guilt!DSC_0130

That’s all folks! Even though it isn’t as creamy as traditional ice cream it still crushes the craving to have something cold and chocolate at night! There’s only three ingredients, no preservatives, it’s super easy, and everything in it is good for you!

One tip is to make sure that your bananas are completely frozen. Mine weren’t and my initial ice cream was a bit more thin than you want it to be.

    • The dates do add a nice bit of sweetness!
You could definitely switch out the cocoa powder for carob, I prefer cocoa powder. The taste of carob is a bit off putting to me. But the great thing about these recipes is that you can use them as a guide and add in whatever you like!
