Make Someone’s Day, Tell Them How Great They Are

The other day I was scrolling through Twitter and one of my former professor’s tweeted about an important lesson that he was taught. The lesson was that if you think someone is doing a great job to tell them so. Simple, but so effective. It stuck with me then this weekend I walked into my mom’s office and she’d put up this card that I made for her.

DSC_0159I don’t have any idea what old box she found it in. After I read it I couldn’t even remember when I wrote it. The edges are starting to fray and some of the sequins that I hot glued on it are starting to fall off but that doesn’t really matter because what she cared about was that I told her that I loved her and that I was thankful for everything that she’s done for me. For all of the sacrifices and compromises that she’s made for the sake of my happiness.

Sometimes the little things that you do for people can make such an impact on them. If you love someone tell them. If you value someone’s friendship, guidance, or just the fact that they’re around then let them know.

This doesn’t just apply to people that you love. Something as little as giving a boss who’s helped you outside of the workplace a thank you note, or sending an email to a teacher that has really made a difference on the way that you see the world can truly make their day.

When somebody goes the extra mile applaud them, you never know who may be in need of a little positivity.
