Easy Holiday Appetizers

In my opinion the appetizers are the best part of the meal. You can have so much fun with them and be really creative, which is what I love to do in the kitchen! Below I’ll show you how to make three delicious appetizers that are sure to impress your friends and family!

DSC_07831. Chocolate Dipped Orange Slices

Ingredients:

2-3 oranges

6 squares of bakers chocolate

about 3 tbsp of salt

DSC_0747Directions: peel the oranges, melt your chocolate, dip half of the orange in the chocolate then set it on wax paper or foil paper. After ten minutes sprinkle the half that was dipped in chocolate with salt. Put the oranges in the freezer for about 5 minutes then they will come right off the paper.

2. Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese

Ingredients:

12 pitted dates

6 slices of bacon

about 1/4 cup of blue cheese

Directions: the first thing that you need to do is fillet the date. Make sure that it’s still intact because you will fill the inside with your blue cheese, and wrap each stuffed date with half a piece of bacon. Arrange them on a pan and put them in the oven at 370 for 15-20 minutes or until your bacon is crispy.DSC_0739 DSC_0771Everything about this dish is so ahdhghshfs! The bacon is crispy and salty, the date adds sweetness, and the cheese is so rich. Why can’t we just wrap everything in bacon?

3. Baked Brie with Candied Pecans

Ingredients:

3 tbsp maple syrup

2 tbsp brown sugar

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1 pinch of salt

2/3 cup roughly chopped pecans

1 wheel of brie

DSC_0756Directions: cut the top layer off of your brie. In a small saucepan add the sugar, syrup, vanilla, and salt. Let the ingredients simmer for about 4 minutes then add the pecans. Put you brie in the oven for about 5 minutes at 350. Take it out and add the topping, then put it back in the oven for another 5 minutes. Serve while hot, you don’t want the cheese to harden!

  1. I love the chocolate covered oranges idea. I actually do the brie but with walnuts and I wrap it in puffy pastry. Lovely post! I’m hosting a Christmas post luck on the 27th I think I might do the oranges.
