Maleficent Inspired Nails

Sleeping Beauty has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, and while I haven’t watched the re-boot that was just released on DVD I have seen lots of photos that inspired me to do a nail tutorial!

I’m not a massive fan of new Disney films but I adored Sleeping Beauty as a child and a lot of the other classic Disney films. The story is just so magical, and the song Once Upon A Dream just transports me back to my childhood.

Maleficent’s Look

The first step was applying two coats of the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy polish in the color BlackJack.

Once both coats dried completely I went over the polish with Essie Matte About You top coat. It goes on clear and mattifies the polish that you have on. It really gave a sinister edge to the look and gave it some interest which is why I thought that it was perfect for a look inspired by Maleficent.

Aurora’s Look

For Aurora’s look I wanted it to be really light and pretty. I started by applying the Loreal Color Riche polish in Not a Cloud in Sight.

This gorgeous sky blue color really reminds me of the blue gown that Aurora wears.

The color is beautiful on its own but Aurora’s character just exudes joy so I decided to add some sparkle and apply two different glitter polishes on top of the blue polish. Yep, you read that correctly. TWO glitter polishes! The silver glitter is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Shattered Glass, and the second polish is Urban Outfitters inΒ  Gold Dust Woman.

Thanks for reading!!!

Which look do you like better? Maleficent’s sleek black matte nails, or Aurora’s blue sparkly look?
